Amy from the_fetching_farmhouse on Instagram did this DIY on her stories and I HAD to try it! My writing is terrible and her DIY gave me hope that I can make my own signs for my home!
- A wooden sign or picture frame
- Any type of paint
- Printer & paper
- Ball point pen
- Paint pen
- Sandpaper (optional)
Get your sign or picture frame to paint. I had this sign in my bathroom and I got tired of the saying so I decided to paint over it.
Tape off the edges so that your background paint doesn't get on your frame.
Paint your background! This took me SEVERAL coats of paint. I just used regular white craft paint that I had on hand.
Grab your computer and type up your sign writing! Once you're finished print it out on regular printer paper.
Turn your prints upside down and pencil in behind the letters.
Turn your pages back around and place them on your board the face up and in the position you want. Take your ball point pen and trace around your font. This will leave a lead pattern for you to trace with your paint pen!
Once you've got the letters on your board, start tracing them with your paint pen! When I was done I went over it lightly with my sanding block. This is completely optional! It was a bit to bold for me and the sand paper toned it down perfectly. Just make sure your paint is dry so it doesn't smudge!
