Kynlee LOVES soft blankets! She'll drag our adult size blankets all over the house and rub her face on them, while also picking up dog and cat hair galore (yuck!)! So I decided to make her a soft blanket her size! I was feeling lazy and didn't want to get my sewing machine out, so I decided to go with the no sow knotted method instead! This way is SUPER easy, and really doesn't need much explanation, but I thought I'd throw together a quick blog post for those who might want a little direction
Pick your material. I went to Joanns for mine since we have one close and I knew they had several different fleece options. I prefer a solid color on one side and a pattern on the other, but what you choose is up to you!
Once you get home cut your material to size and throw it in the wash and dry on low heat.
Once you get our material out of the dryer you can cut it to size. I would stack my fleece together and cut them together so they'll be the same size. Even if they're a little off that's ok. This blanket is super forgiving 🙂
Before cutting your blanket to size, keep in mind how you will be cutting 3" or 4" on each side for the knots.
Time to cut! Depending on the size of your blanket, you'll want to cut 3"-4" cuts up the sides of your blanket. You will want to make these no more than 1" thick or your knots will will be quite thick. For my smaller blanket I did 3" cuts.
Cutting your corners. When it comes to cutting the corner, you'll want to cut 3 or 4 strands off one side (depending on how long your cuts are). You'll have a little square at the side. Just tie your knots as normal and it'll be squared off at the ends 🙂
Knot away! Super easy, but a little tedious, especially if you are doing a large blanket. I stretched out my fingers a lot haha! During this step I decided to personalize it using my Cameo and Heat press. If you do so make sure you don't know that end untill after you press it.
That's it! You've got yourself a new blanket!
